1. Introduction
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is published by Maxinity Software Limited in accordance with Section 54(1) of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.
While Maxinity’s turnover is below the £36 million statutory threshold, the company voluntarily publishes this statement as part of its commitment to ethical business practices, transparency, and the protection of human rights across its operations and supply chain.
Maxinity has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and any form of exploitation. We are committed to ensuring that such practices have no place within our business, our workforce, or our supply chain, and that all individuals working for or on behalf of Maxinity are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.
This statement outlines the steps taken during the 2024–2025 financial year and sets out our commitments for 2025–2026 to further strengthen controls, awareness, and proportionate risk management.
2. Our Organisation
Maxinity Software Limited is a UK-based software company specialising in digital solutions for healthcare education, including secure platforms for examination management, assessment delivery, and course administration.
Our services support universities, professional bodies, and healthcare education providers in the UK and internationally by enabling more efficient, reliable, and accessible digital assessment and learning processes.
Maxinity operates as a technology-led, low-asset organisation with a predominantly office-based and remote workforce. Our employees and contractors are engaged in software development, product support, customer success, and professional services. We do not operate in sectors traditionally associated with high modern slavery risk such as manufacturing, construction, agriculture, or logistics.
Our core values include:
- Integrity and transparency in all business relationships
- Respect for individuals regardless of role, location, or contractual status
- Responsible sourcing and ethical labour practices
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and accessibility
- Continuous improvement of governance and compliance
While direct exposure to modern slavery risk is limited, we recognise that risks can still arise within technology supply chains, particularly in areas such as hardware manufacturing, outsourced digital services, and freelance labour markets. We therefore take a proactive and proportionate approach to risk identification and mitigation.
3. Our Supply Chain
Maxinity’s supply chain primarily comprises:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers
- Software and SaaS vendors
- IT hardware suppliers (e.g. laptops and peripherals)
- Independent consultants (edcucation specialists, subject matter experts)
- Professional services providers (legal, HR, accounting, marketing)
We do not engage in complex, labour-intensive supply chains. However, we acknowledge that modern slavery risks may exist in:
- Global electronics manufacturing
- Offshore or subcontracted software development
- Recruitment and labour intermediaries
- Online freelance and gig-economy platforms
As a result, Maxinity applies proportionate controls and expectations across its supplier base.
4. Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
4.1 Supply Chain Risk Mapping
During the 2024–2025 period, Maxinity undertook a review of its tier-1 suppliers and contractor arrangements. This included:
- Assessing supplier locations and service types
- Considering sector-specific risk indicators relevant to technology and digital services
- Reviewing publicly available policies of key cloud and software providers
No instances of modern slavery or labour exploitation were identified. Where suppliers operate in higher-risk jurisdictions, reliance is placed on established providers with published ethical sourcing and labour standards.
4.2 Supplier Onboarding Controls
All new suppliers and contractors are required to:
- Confirm compliance with applicable labour and employment laws
- Confirm that forced, bonded, compulsory or child labour is not used
- Commit to fair wages, ethical recruitment, and safe working conditions
- Confirm that workers are not charged recruitment fees
Where appropriate, suppliers may be asked to provide additional assurances or policy documentation.
4.3 Contractual Protections
Supplier and contractor agreements include provisions that:
- Prohibit modern slavery and human trafficking
- Require compliance with all relevant labour laws
- Permit termination in the event of serious breaches
- Require equivalent standards to be applied to subcontractors
4.4 Internal Employment Safeguards
Maxinity ensures that:
- All employees and contractors have the legal right to work
- No identity documents are withheld
- No recruitment fees are charged
- All workers are free to terminate their engagement in accordance with contract terms
- Pay and conditions meet or exceed applicable legal requirements
Remote and hybrid working arrangements further reduce risks associated with dependency or accommodation-linked employment.
5. Training and Awareness
Maxinity recognises the importance of awareness in preventing modern slavery. During the reporting period:
- Modern slavery awareness information was made available to employees and managers
- Management guidance includes recognising indicators of exploitation in supply chains
- New starters are introduced to ethical conduct expectations during onboarding
Annual refreshers and updated guidance will continue to be provided.
6. Policies and Governance
Maxinity’s approach is supported by the following policies and controls:
- Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy
- Supplier Code of Conduct
- Whistleblowing Policy
