Carbon Reduction Plan
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Maxinity Software Limited (Maxinity) is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 40.358 tCO2e by 2031. This is a reduction of 20%
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
Maxinity’s baseline carbon footprint reflects its operating model as a predominantly digital, cloud-based healthcare education software provider, with the majority of emissions arising from Scope 3 sources, particularly purchased cloud and IT services, home working energy use, and limited business travel, rather than from energy-intensive premises, vehicle fleets or manufacturing activity.
As a low-asset organisation, Maxinity’s pathway to Net Zero by 2050 is therefore focused on targeted and proportionate interventions that address the most material sources of impact, including optimising digital infrastructure, maintaining remote and low-travel delivery models, embedding sustainability considerations into procurement decisions, and strengthening carbon measurement and governance to drive continuous, evidence-led reduction over time.
Future carbon reduction initiatives
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Cloud Hosting Optimisation Project
Review hosting environments annually to ensure workloads are hosted in regions powered by high proportions of renewable energy. Rationalise environments to remove unused or low-utilisation resources, reducing compute and storage emissions. - Green Cloud Supplier Alignment Project
Formalise preference for cloud and SaaS suppliers with published Net Zero targets, renewable energy commitments or science-based targets, embedding this into procurement and renewal decisions. - Data Storage & Retention Reduction Project
Introduce stricter data retention and archiving rules for exam data, logs and backups, reducing long-term storage volumes and associated energy consumption. - Efficient Software Design Programme
Embed energy efficiency principles into product development, such as reducing unnecessary background processing, optimising database queries and improving application performance to lower compute demand.
Ways of Working & Travel Reduction
- Hybrid Delivery Model Project
Maintain and formalise hybrid working (where appropriate to job role) as part of our delivery approach, significantly reducing emissions associated with commuting and business travel. - Low-Carbon Travel Policy Implementation
Introduce a travel hierarchy prioritising virtual meetings, then rail over air, with senior approval required for higher-emission travel. - Travel Emissions Monitoring Project
Track business travel emissions annually to inform decision-making and demonstrate year-on-year reductions.
Office & Equipment Efficiency
- Green IT Equipment Lifecycle Project
Extend the lifespan of laptops and monitors through repair, redeployment and reuse. Ensure end-of-life equipment is refurbished or recycled via certified providers. - Energy-Efficient Equipment Upgrade Programme
When equipment replacement is required, prioritise energy-efficient devices and power-saving configurations as standard. - Paperless Operations Project
Continue to eliminate paper-based processes through digital workflows, e-signatures and electronic document management.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Sustainable Supplier Screening Project
Introduce light-touch environmental screening for key suppliers, focusing on cloud, IT and professional services, to encourage lower-carbon practices across the supply chain. - Local Supplier Preference Initiative
Where appropriate, prioritise local suppliers to reduce transport-related emissions and support local economic sustainability.
Measurement, Governance & Reporting
- Annual Carbon Footprint Measurement Project
Measure Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions annually, focusing on the most material sources for a software organisation (energy, cloud services, travel). - Carbon Reduction Plan Refresh Cycle
Update and publish a Carbon Reduction Plan annually, tracking progress against reduction actions and identifying new opportunities. - Internal Carbon Awareness & Engagement Project
Provide staff guidance on low-carbon digital working practices, home-working energy efficiency and sustainable behaviours.
Longer-Term / Residual Emissions
- Net Zero Roadmap Development Project
Develop a phased roadmap to 2050 with realistic short-, medium- and long-term reduction milestones aligned to UK Net Zero policy. - High-Integrity Carbon Removal (Residual Only)
For emissions that cannot be eliminated, commit to high-quality, verified carbon removal solutions as a last resort, rather than low-integrity offsets.
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
