India has temporarily blocked the Telegram app over concerns it may be used for cheating, days before a crucial medical entrance exam is set to be re-held. A dramatic move, but perhaps not a surprising one. This is the same exam that was cancelled earlier this year amid a cheating scandal. The same exam in which 2.3 million candidates are competing for just 100,000 places. The stakes could not be higher. And right now, the system is struggling.

The Scale Problem Nobody Planned For

National medical entrance exams were never designed for the pressure they’re under today.
